Sunday’s for TUMC Children
During Sunday School we are creating the best hour of a kids week. We care for newborns through fifth graders. Our aim is to create an environment where they are valued, loved and encouraged. All classes are staffed with loving, committed leaders who teach a Bible-based lesson using active and creative teaching methods.
NurseryBabies and Toddlers – The nursery is open on Sunday’s at 8:15 a.m. for 0-2 years old. We are excited to introduce our two nursery rooms to you, the Wee-Ones and the Travelers, staffed by safe sanctuary certified, paid employees. Our Wee-Ones (green) room provides care for our infants, crawlers, and beginning walkers. Miss Ann and Miss Katie are anxious to meet your “Wee-Ones” and enjoy tummy time, stories, music and, of course, some cuddles. Our Travelers (yellow) room provides care for our sturdy walkers/toddlers and any preschooler who is working hard towards diaper free days. Miss Lisa will be working with your “Travelers” by providing a short bible story and activity, along with play time, music and a snack. We will be utilizing the ‘Play-N-Worship’ curriculum from Group. Age Level Contact: Kristen Gifford – 616.245.9975, kgifford@ioniaschools.org

AwakeningsPre-School thru Early Kindergarten – Imagine a space for Pre-School age children where learning about God is FUN! Our classroom is a roomy area with large and small motor activities for your child. Our teachers use the Hands-On Curriculum for Pre-School which engages young children through movement, music, story and play. It introduces them to how we interact and become a faith community. Check out www.group.com for detailed info. Age Level Contact: Mary-Lyn Frost – 616.447.7824, frostmarylyn1@gmail.com
Horizons
Kindergarten thru Third Grade – This classroom is for children Kindergarten thru Third Grade and is designed in a Montessori environment. It utilizes the Children and Worship curriculum which allows children to learn the Bible through manipulation and by experiencing specially made materials. This is a great entry point of Christian faith for children. God in mystery, awe and wonder comes alive as the children dwell in the presence of God as a way of knowing, developing the knowledge base needed in practicing our faith. The Hands-On Curriculum prepares this group to express their faith through action. It gives them interactive skills that engage their lives with God’s mission. Interested in volunteering?
In order to provide these wonderful opportunities for our children, we rely on volunteer teaching teams. Curriculum and room resources are provided for you and lesson plans are very simple to implement. Being with the children becomes the most important part of their experience. We would welcome your time as a volunteer in our 9:30 a.m. Sunday School Program! Teams are set up in convenient rotations and a Kick-Off Orientation is offered to prepare the volunteer teaching teams. On-going support is offered through staff and the Children’s Council. Fill out this form and turn it in to the office.
