The Connection Card
We use this communication tool for many purposes at Trinity. Need a new name tag? Have an idea for a committee? Are you interested in reserving a room for a meeting or event at Trinity? These are some basic examples of how you can “connect” with Trinity office and staff. But the connection card is also a way to connect on a deeper, spiritual level. Do have a health concern you would like to share with the Parish Nurse? Are you worried about a family member or friend going through a difficult time? Would you like to speak to the pastor about a personal matter? Use the connection card to share your prayers requests and concerns. We want to help. Connect with us so we can offer the care you are seeking.

Community Ministries
- While you are out and about shopping or just plain too tired to cook, be sure and stop in for dinner at the Wyoming Applebee’s on Mon. Feb. 6 to support Community Ministries. It is located at 1375 28th Street SW. be sure to take your coupon along. You can find it on the church website or through Community Ministries. Thanks for your support!
- BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION – It’s that time of year again! Congress School is collecting “Box Tops for Education” and we need your help! Please collect Box Tops from products like Betty Crocker, Total, Green Giant, Land O Lakes, Huggies, Avery Paper Products, Cottonelle, Kleenex, Scott, Hefty and Pillsbury (full list of products can be found at www.boxtops4education.com and click on “About Box Tops”). Put them in an envelope and drop them off in the box in the Parlor. Congress School receives $0.10 for every Box Top collected. Last year, we received a check for $221.20! We purchased supplies for the teachers with that money as every bit helps in the education of the children of Congress School. Thank you for your help with this and we’ll let you know if we top that amount this year!
Outreach
- Our Hunger Pot is located in the Narthex near the entrance of the Parlor. Please be generous by filling the pot each week to fund our Altar Fund, which is used to help individuals who live in our neighborhood and in our church family who have emergency financial needs.
- Caring Coins will be collected for In The Image during January. In The Image links gently used clothing, house wares, furniture and appliances with families in need in a manner that enhances dignity, embraces choice, and encourages participation and builds a community of diversity. In The Image is an independent, faith-based, ecumenical non-profit organization. In The Image serves the greater Grand Rapids area with two locations. Please share your coins with this important ministry.

Confident Parenting Seminar
If anyone from Trinity is interested in attending the Confident Parenting Seminar, please contact Nichea Guy at orangecelt00@aol.com or 450-6445. On February 8, from 6:30-9pm, Cornerstone Church has invited world-renowned author and speaker Dr. Jim Burns to present his Confident Parenting seminar, which will equip and encourage anyone who interacts with kids and teens, whether as a parent, grandparent, or mentor. Topics to be covered during the 2.5 hour seminar include: finding replenishment for overcrowded lives, overcoming negative family patterns, creating a grace-filled home, communicating with affection, warmth and encouragement, and addressing issues of media influence and purity. Tickets are $6 ($10 for two), which will include a seminar manual and light refreshments, and can be purchased at the church office or at www.cornerstonemi.org/parenting.
Trinity Pinewood Derby
Rev your engines; it’s Derby Time! Unlike the traditional Cub Scout Pinewood Derby, the Trinity Pinewood Derby is open to racers of all ages. We will again have two separate races: the “Official Race”, following BSA Derby Guidelines, and the “Outlaw Race”, where (almost) anything goes! Participants can register in the parlor on January 29 or February 5 or by using the “Take Time for Trinity” form in your bulletin. Registration will close at 11:00 am on race day. If you would like a chance to “test drive” your car on the track, come to Trinity on Saturday, February 11 from 1:00 until 2:00. You can use an existing car or build a new one. Basic kits can be purchased for $3.99 at the Scout Shop (3213 Walker Ave NW) or Hobby Lobby. Some stores (Michaels, Riders Hobby Shop, Hobby Lobby) also carry more elaborate kits.
