Community Ministries
PRAYS with the family of Talinda Nelson (mother of 3 of our program youth) for healing from her recent surgery. She is expecting a 4-6 week recovery period and needs to return to work as soon as she can.

PRAYS that the youth in Grand Rapids stay safe and apart from all the recent shootings. Pray with us for good decision-making!

DOING SOME SCHOOL SHOPPING? – While you are doing your school shopping and taking advantage of all the good sales out there…why not consider a donation for the kids in Community Ministries? We would like to give our students a new backpack with some pencils, pens, crayons, markers, notebook paper, pocket folders and rulers. We hope to be able to do this during the last week of the summer which is the week of Aug. 9 but we will take donations after that if necessary. Many of our students often start school late because they often are unable to afford them or to have access to them. You can drop them in the Community Ministries Office during the week or outside the offices in our supply box. Thanks in advance!

Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University is Back!
This 13 week course covers debt elimination, retirement investments, college funding and, most importantly, the peace of communication when it comes to dealing with your finances.

How can Financial Peace University help you? -The average family pays off $5,300 and saves $2,700 during the 13 week course
-Financial Stress is reduced. -Couples begin to communicate about money, priorities, goals and more. -Singles are empowered and encouraged to find accountability partners.

TUMC hosted the Financial Peace University Class in the fall of 2009. You gain friendships and supporters during your lessons and powerful information that can change your entire outlook on your financial life. Those that took the class, on average, eliminated $2,525 in debt and saved $4,482. That does NOT include one couple paid off their mortgage. Many couples started to talk, not argue, about their finances and began to realize what financial PEACE really means.

Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University is taught by Dave Ramsey himself using DVD’s. Your kit includes his book, a work book, CD’s of the class, the envelope system and much more. Total cost for the kit is $86.95 for the first 12 participants, $100 after that. For more information or questions, please call Tara Lafferty at 773-8001 or email at rtclafferty@charter.net

Acolytes and Liturgists Wanted!
An acolyte assists in the 11 a.m. worship service and is open to all 3rd through 6th Graders. The acolyte serves by lighting and extinguishing the candles on the Lord’s Table. Occasionally, acolytes also participate in baptisms. If you are interested in being an acolyte during this program season Sept. 2010 through May 2011, please let the office know (456.7168 or office@grtumc.org) or sign up on the Take Time for Trinity insert.

Liturgists at Trinity have traditionally participated in the 11 a.m. worship by reading the Call to Worship and the First Scripture reading. This Fall the role of the liturgist may change slightly. The staff will be putting together the role of the liturgist in the next few weeks, but the change will not be significant. We are in need of people who wish to serve Trinity in this way. Please contact the office (456.7168, office@grtumc.org) if you are interested, or sign up on the Take Time for Trinity insert.
